Closing Arguments

Voting time nears, and this is OUR "closing argument" on why we will vote McCain, and you should as well. We've compiled our Top Five reasons NOT to vote for Obama, to go with our article on Why Vote McCain on this page.

c4m's Top Five reasons to vote NO to Obama on Nov. 4th:

5.) Judgement/Character:

His radical associations, starting more than 25 years ago and cultivated since then are cause for alarm. How much of the teachings of Frank Davis, Bill Ayers, Jeremiah Wright, Louis Farrakhan, and other haters of our great country make up part of Obama's leanings?

4.) The mainstream cheerleader press:

The Fourth Estate is supposed to be looking out for Americans and serving the readers, NOT serving or being beholden to ANY political candidate or office holder. The press and mainstream TV news departments are openly rooting for Obama. They're willing partisans, not journalists anymore. They join leftist Hollywood and pop culture in mindless Obamamania.

3.) NO experience for the job:

Obama himself admits and has said he's "never been in charge of anything" and that's spooky. We're not comfortable giving the keys to a rookie at this critical time for our nation. Joe Biden -- the fumbling, bumbling inept clod said it best himself: The Presidency doesn't need "on the job training."

2.) Joe Biden: This clumsy, inept gaffe machine needs to retire. He's a Poster Boy for term limits in Congress if ever there was one. His record in Washington is littered with pork barrel spending, mindless entitlements, and downright ridiculous earmarks. He's part of the PROBLEM in Washington, not part of the solution.

1.) Absolute power corrupts absolutely:

Need more be said? If Obama is elected, he will have a Democrat controlled House and a filibuster-proof Senate as his lapdogs. He will be able to do whatever he wishes with NO checks and balances to hinder him in any way. He WILL raise taxes, WILL redistribute income, WILL balloon the deficit and WILL appoint activist, leftist judges to our Supreme Court and the Federal bench. Who's going to stop him? No one will be able to.

Conclusion:

Do you really want the likes of Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Jack Murtha, Barney Frank and the rest of the Democrat-dominated WORST Congress in the history of this country to have a blank check with YOUR earnings? Or would you rather have someone standing up to these robbers and thieves?

Do you really want people like Ayers, Odinga, Wright, Farrakhan, Hamas, (which has endorsed Obama and called Biden a "great man") to have the ear of the President of the United States? With such a President possibly beholden to those who helped him build his base of power?

Put aside your Party Preference and vote Country First. It takes courage to do so.

This race isn't about the color of Obama's skin, it's about the thinness of it. Do you really want a President who is so paranoid and thin skinned, so Nixonian, that he attacks the Joe the Plumbers of the country? One whose campaign, supporters and followers hurl vicious hatred at anyone not falling in line and supporting this flim-flam man? Who say the only reasons you might not be voting for Obama is that you're stupid, ignorant, uneducated or racist?

We say no. Nobama!

ACORN: The Poisonous NUT That Ended Democracy In America

ACORN: The Poisonous NUT That Ended Democracy in America

By Cristi Adkins, Clintons4Mccain

Within its shell, ACORN contains all the makings of an intriguing government political conspiracy movie: drama, injustice, organized crime, election fraud, intimidation, violence, money, lies, extortion and a presidential candidate.[1]

If you are a patriotic, middle class American who spends most of your time working for your family and enjoying your FREEDOM, you have probably not been bothered by the sounds of an ACORN dropping before now.

But, while you were sleeping peacefully at night, the roots of Socialism have broadened its reach, without determent right into the foundation of the White House.[2]

Allow me to enlighten you to the ways of a radical community action group that could impact your way of life forever.

ACORN is an acronym that stands for Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now.

Its mere definition contains hints of Socialism as it claims to be a group advocating for low- and moderate-income families that addresses housing, schools, neighborhood safety, health care, job conditions, and other social issues.[3]

Beneath that surface lie violence, intimidation, threats, race baiting and direct physical attacks on property, people and the legal establishment.

Without going into the myriad details, many ACORN policy proposals are widely considered to be in line with the far left wing of the Democratic Party.[4]

If you are asking yourself what could possibly be so ‘bad' with a group that in theory advocates for low income families, then you've just given yourself the reason this group has been allowed to thrive in America with little scrutiny and under the radar of main street observation until now.[5]

In truth, ACORN is the most virulent, organized crime group in this decade...and it is funded by YOU.

Put simply, ACORN is ripping off the taxpayer through Congressional hand outs.[6]

In fact, ACORN was recently due to receive nearly $700 million of the $700 billion dollar bailout bill until Republicans in the Senate redlined it.[7]

Allow that to sink in for a moment: $700 million from the US for an organized crime group.

Yes, ACORN has been receiving Obama campaign funding, but what's worse is that ACORN leaders are actively extorting money from banks, mortgage brokers and Congress.

To add insult to injury, ACORN is costing Americans millions to investigate all of its criminal activities across America.

And then there's the end of the democratic process through valid elections.[8]

Yes, ACORN is behind much of the rampant voter fraud.[9]

ACORN has been involved with fraudulent voter registrations for years.[10]

In fact, Missouri has 8 ACORN guilty pleas on record (for 2006 violations of federal voting laws) just this year. Many other states are investigating many hundreds of cases of voter fraud in their jurisdiction.[11]

We have compelling evidence that ACORN has been involved in fraudulent voter registration since early in the 2007 launch of the Obama campaign.

But we don't stop at faulty funding and voter fraud. Obama’s community organizational skills are synonymous with totalitarian tactics as its leaders use violence, intimidation, threats, racial baiting and direct physical attacks on property, persons and the legal establishment.[12]

When you shed the shell, there is just no good to the group known as ACORN. It is corrupt and without any upside.

With a group like ACORN running rampant in government and shaking hands in Washington, why not legitimize the Bloods and The Crypts? They too are street gangs but they just happen to push drugs instead of bogus registrations drives and sub-prime mortgage deals.

Uncle Sam should be putting ACORN at the top of its list as internal terrorist groups, yet the red, white and blue sense of justice seems to be crumbling.

Many numbed citizens just roll their eyes at groups like ACORN simply because America has unfortunately become deadened to the idea that politicians have ulterior motives, nameless agenda's and behave unscrupulously at times.

However, the rest of this American story is without filtering or fear.

The disturbing reason more ACORN activities go un-prosecuted is because the FEC as well as the FBI have refused to open investigations out of fear of rocking the Obama campaign.[13]

The MOST disturbing fact you need to know about ACORN is that its organizers have terrorized the Federal justice and law enforcement system into NON-action.

How can one group get away with so much? Because ACORN has many Democratic backers in Congress who work tirelessly for its perpetuation and the head ACORN nut is Senator Obama.[14]

In fact, Senator Obama is so entwined in ACORN it has become a career and campaign double helix in his DNA.

If you're asking yourself what Obama has to do with ACORN, consider this:

Obama has served ACORN as its attorney, has been its direct action trainer, its mentor, its contractor, and its PRIMARY illegal campaign funder. ACORN is part of the ‘Community Organizing' experience his evil empire would like to bring into the White House.[15]

American men and American women should be recognizing that mother freedom is on the brink of extinction with one single NUT trampling all over liberty.

Who will be left sleeping peacefully at night as the ACORN marks the beginning of Socialism in America brought to you courtesy of Barack Obama?[16]

With ACORN intact or worse, empowered in the White House, American Democracy will be a legend long gone. Socialism and criminality will be the rule.

Elite Arrogance In It's Finest Hour: The Obama Empire Against The Palin Working Class

Elite Arrogance In It's Finest Hour: The Obama Empire Against The Palin Working Class
By Bernie Gagliano

The Press took its orders from The Obama Empire, Axelrod and Pfloufe, again last night.

Since Sarah hit it out of the park on last nights debate, they are now left with attacking her for her every day, one of us, middle American speech pattern and main street colloquialisms.

The net result is that we mere working class proletarians are supposed to hate ourselves for not being one of the elite. Elite arrogance at it's finest...

The Obama Empire fears the reform Palin speaks of; the reform that is going to put an end to Congress-speak and Beltway babble.

Why, you ask?

Oh, that bubbly positive personality, that enthusiasm, that energy and foresightedness to move us forward can and does connect with real American values. That translates into votes towards solutions and positive change.

Thus, according to the elitists, that pizazz that is Palin is to be degraded, mocked, and questioned. It isn't Washingtonian. Horrors, it is that ordinary down-home American quality that toughs out tragedy and disasters, wins wars, rebuilds cities, invents and innovates what the world wants, volunteers to help their neighbors, sends rescue teams around the world, saves children and feeds the starving masses. And worse, it is grounded in patriotism, love of the Constitution, and a practiced and prayerful religious or spiritual belief.

Agh!, but these American solutions and moving forward for families would leave The Obama Empire and Dem Party, run-amok Socialism in the dust.

This Maverick reform will open up opportunities faster than any tasty policy offered by The Obama Empire.

Why, you ask?

The Socialists wouldn't be able to redistribute the wealth; they wouldn't be able to pay for governmental programs and end capitalism for years to come if the Mavericks actually get into office and begin their reform.

Should Palin penetrate the hearts of patriotic Americans, Obama Socialism will come to a halt; he will be stopped by a hockey mom, won't be allowed to do his thing and run up trillions more in debt, destroy what value is left in the dollar, and put the government into metastases, bloating the bureaucracy and strangling the economy for state after state.

With McCain and Palin we can finally see the corrupt punished and the incompetent weasels in Congress set correctly. The Mavericks can reform and lead the government with practiced hands. They can clean out the waste, save us on taxes, stimulate new small enterprises where innovation and jobs are born.

This is how America can build 5 million - 10 million - jobs with small enterprises, not massive programs in DC.

And as for foreign affairs, we have the Iraq war to wrap up correctly; not to fumble the ball and abandon the innocent as The Obama Empire is dictating.

Emperor Obama would like to tell the Joint Chiefs of Staff to end democracy on his schedule? Huge mistake.

As for Afghanistan and Pakistan, we all know he is dead wrong.
Pakistan is on tenderhooks politically. We must allow McCain to win the war in the tribal areas, as we see him shore up that government to prevent a collapse in all that has been achieved.

Pakistan has many nukes on missiles pointed all over the globe. We can't allow that government to fall, to stall or to turn rogue.

Who do you feel is best to achieve this safely and securely - McCain or Obama?

We've heard it again and again, this is serious; this is deadly serious business, not cheap jabs on a podium.

What our next POTUS is faced with is 2 wars to be completed with our best outcome, not some weak-kneed retreatist, peace now, talk-to-terrrorists surrender policy.

American lives, American families and American values cannot afford Obama.

Why, you ask?

If the honorable points thus far mentioned don't speak to your heart and mind, consider these last points - ACORN and Intimidation.

Of all the dirty, rotten and left handed tactics to enter politics, ACORN is most poisonous.
Obama will bring ACORN, a corrupt and criminal organization, into the White House as his personal mafia, his chartered cheats, funded by the Dems with our tax dollars to corrupt the electoral system like Saddam Hussein ran his elections, through fear and terror tactics.

If the delegates in Denver still are afraid to tell the truth, what will this nation be like if this criminal syndicate, AKA The Obama Empire, controls our government?

Intimidation is rampant. We already know the FEC is afraid to kick up a fuss. The FBI is afraid to lift the cover off the crimes of Obama and his ACORN and Rezko activities.

Judges all over are afraid to issue orders to go forward with obvious criminal cases in many states and on the federal level co-opted by fear of the race baiting.

Do we dare mention race?
Yes, we dare.

Race is the leif motiv of this entire campaign. It is the undertone of intimidation and is forbidden to mention, but it is there.
No, it is not subliminal.
No, it is not skin color "race".
It is street crime and race riot racial fear that is used and promulgated on TV right out of the mouths of the angry AA spokespeople and hosts, warning that only the One can be the President or else.

Intimidation: "Denver will burn, cities will burn."
We all heard it on CNN, over and over. And it has worked.

Race baiting has worked. The Clintons are in line, the Dems are in line, some Hillary women have capitulated, law enforcement has collapsed, judges are made timid and no one on the MSM outlets has the slightest inkling of talking about this terrorizing of our country.

Oh, they will write books five years from now, but not now. Not when it matters. Not when something is at risk for them.

Well we now have two leaders who are unafraid and they have stepped up to save us from this disgusting mess. John McCain and Sarah Palin are a very good alternative. Four years of reform and the defeat on Nov.4th of all this evil to come is worth working for. It is the only rational choice.

But it is up to us, Clintons 4 McCain - the Hillary women -talking to the undecided and bamboozled women in the swing states.

Please take action now and get on the phones at Citizens for McCain and be forthright, like Sarah was last night.
Talk straight.
They want to hear from you. http://www.johnmccain.com/PhoneBank/?guid=0A517F03-C3ED-4A24-A14A-3BD9D5F32F2F

We Are All Americans

This was written by Tracy Karol and the TalkStraight.org Staff contributing
___________________________________________

The McCain Campaign theme throughought this election has been “Country First” — something Barack Obama tried to mock at the Democratic National Convention, probably to usurp his rival’s obvious use of the phrase.

What Obama didn’t count on, though, was that John McCain doesn’t just run on words - as Rudy Giuliani said, “change is not a destination, just as hope is not a strategy.” John McCain MEANT what he said when he said “Country First”- not as a campaign slogan, but as a way of life. It’s something Americans saw in his acceptance speech, and something the convention speakers led up to in the nights before John McCain spoke.

First, the Democrat-Turned-Independent

It’s ironic that the man who might have ran on a ticket against John McCain eight years ago gave a rousing speech for him instead this week at the opening of the Republican National Convention – and by doing so will likely be punished by the party that once loved him.

But Joe Lieberman, the first of many speakers at the RNC to echo the theme of “Country First,” didn’t seem to care. Despite the risk to his career – and make no mistake that it was huge – he stood up for John McCain in front of an initially tepid audience. Why? In his words:

“I don’t have to tell you that we were blessed in this country to have a great generation of founders, and they foresaw the danger of this kind of senseless partisanship. In fact, our first president, George Washington, in his farewell address, warned that the spirit of party could be the worst enemy of our democracy and enfeeble our government’s ability to do its job.

My friends, I think tonight we could say that President Washington was absolutely right. The truth is, today we are living through his worst nightmare in the capital city that bears his name. And that brings me directly to why I’m here tonight. What, after all, is a Democrat like me doing at a Republican convention like this? Well, I’ll tell you what. I’m here to support John McCain because country matters more than party.
I am here tonight for a simple reason. John McCain is the best choice to bring our country together and lead America forward.” [1]

Joe Lieberman, Al Gore’s running mate in 2000 and the man who would have run against John McCain had McCain beaten George Bush in the primary that year, seems to have seen the light in the past eight years. He, like McCain, has put aside partisan politics. He has even become an Independent. While Democrats thus far haven’t punished him for it, after his speech at the RNC they have threatened to do so. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is threatening to take away Lieberman’s chairs on the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs committees. [2]

Lieberman knew this going in, yet he attacked Barack Obama and urged Americans to vote for John McCain and put country before party anyway. He said:

“Now, let me share something with you that I’m in a unique position to do as a Democrat. My Democratic friends know all about John’s record of independence and accomplishment. And you see, that’s why I think some of them are spending so much time and so much money trying to convince the American people that John McCain is someone else. I am here to tell you what I think you know, but I want to speak to the people out there. Don’t be fooled by some of these political statements and advertisements. Trust me. God only made one John McCain and he is his own man.

Let me, as John would say, give you some straight talk here. If John McCain was just another go-along partisan politician, he never would have taken on corrupt Republican lobbyists or big corporations that were cheating the American people or powerful colleagues in Congress who were wasting taxpayer money, but he did. If John McCain was another go-along partisan politician, he never would have led the fight to fix our broken immigration system or actually do something about global warming, but he did.” [3]

But Lieberman wasn’t done yet. He reached out to Democrats, Republicans, Independents, and undecided voters. He did his best to convince Americans, as an Independent (and Independents, clearly, will be a huge factor in this election), to vote for John McCain:

“You may be thinking of voting for John McCain, but you’re not sure yet. Some of you may never have voted for a Republican before and, frankly, in an ordinary election, you probably never would. But I want you to believe with me that this is no ordinary election — (cheers, applause) — because — and it’s no ordinary election because these are not ordinary times. And, trust me, John McCain is no ordinary candidate. You may not agree with John McCain on every issue, but you can always count on him to be straight with you about where he stands, and to stand for what he thinks is right for our country regardless of the politics. I can tell you with a certain faith that, as president, you can count on John McCain to be what he is naturally - a restless reformer who will clean up Washington and get our government working again for all of the American people. So tonight, I want to ask you whether you are an independent, a Reagan Democrat, a Clinton Democrat or just a plain old Democrat, this year, when you vote for president, vote for the person you believe is best for the country, not for the party you happen to belong to.

I ask those of you who are watching or listening: Vote for the leader who since the age of 17, when he first raised his hand and took an oath to defend and protect our Constitution, has always put America first. My friends, I appeal to independents, Democrats and Republicans. Let’s come together this November to make a great American patriot, John McCain, our next great president.” [4]

Huckabee: With Wit and Wisdom

Long after most other Republican candidates (unless you actually count Ron Paul) had thrown in the towel, Mike Huckabee stubbornly held on in the primaries. The former governor of Arkansas holds no public office now, but he was a regular on late-night talk shows and was surprisingly engaging and funny for a man with such conservative beliefs. He obviously wanted to be the nominee and joked about it in his speech.

“I really was originally hoping for the slot on Thursday called the acceptance speech. But I am delighted to speak on behalf of my 2nd choice for the Republican nomination for President, John McCain - a man with the character and stubborn kind of integrity that I want in a President.” [5]

Then Huckabee got serious. The Democrats might have talked a lot about unity, but the Republicans didn’t focus on that. They didn’t have to – they had a Democrat/Independent at their convention, and their true message was not about party unity, it was, basically, about Country Before Party. Signs that read “Country First” were in abundance – something Barack Obama had tried to mitigate in his acceptance speech the prior week when he said he puts country first too (but he voted with Democrats 97 percent of the time and falsely accused John McCain of voting with George Bush 90 percent of the time).

In his speech, Huckabee staunchly supported John McCain, even while praising Barack Obama for his own achievements – the fact that he has become his party’s nominee “not because of his color, but with indifference to it.” (Though many could argue this point, as Obama himself has pointed out numerous times that he is, in fact, black – then decried people for being racist for saying he is black).

Huckabee also touched on John McCain’s economic plan and foreign policy experience – something Barack Obama clearly lacks.

“If you’re a young couple losing your house, your credit rating, and your American dream, you want something to change. John McCain offers specific ideas to respond to this need for change. But there are some things we never want to change - freedom, security, and the opportunity to prosper.

Barack Obama’s excellent adventure to Europe took his campaign for change to hundreds of thousands of people who don’t even vote or pay taxes here. It’s not what he took there that concerns me. It’s what he brought back. Lots of ideas from Europe he’d like to see imported here.” [6]

Finally, Huckabee reminded Americans what John McCain stands for, has been through, and went after Obama on his willingness to negotiate with rogue nations – or his just plain naiveté.

Maybe the most dangerous threat of an Obama presidency is that he would continue to give madmen the benefit of the doubt. If he’s wrong just once, we will pay a heavy price. John McCain will follow the fanatics to their caves in Pakistan or to the gates of hell.

What Obama wants to do is give them a place setting at the table.

John McCain is by far the most prepared, experienced, and tested Presidential candidate. Thoroughly tested. When John McCain received his country’s call to service, he didn’t hesitate, and he didn’t choose the easy path. He sat alone in the cockpit, taking off from an aircraft carrier to fly in unfriendly skies, knowing he might not make it back. And one day, he didn’t make it back. He was shot down and captured. He was brutally tortured.

He could have eased his own pain and even cut short his imprisonment by uttering a few simple words renouncing his country. But he loved his country and knew that to return with honor later was better than to return without it now. “[7]

Romney: Rival, Rich Man, Economist?

Many wonder why former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney left the race for the Republican nomination so early – he was clearly well funded and beloved by many in the conservative community. Romney and John McCain, reportedly, have never been exactly close. That didn’t stop many in the media from speculating that Romney (along with many other names tossed about) would be McCain’s running mate. It also didn’t stop Romney from gamely campaigning for John McCain these last months or endorsing him again at the convention – talking about what is perhaps one of Romney’s strongest points: the economy.

“I spent 25 years in the private sector. I’ve done business in many foreign countries. I know why jobs come and why they go away. And I know that liberals don’t have a clue. They think that we have the biggest and strongest economy in the world because of our government. They’re wrong. America is strong because of the ingenuity, and entrepreneurship, and hard work of the American people. The American people have always been the source of our nation’s strength, and they always will be. We strengthen our people and our economy when we preserve and promote opportunity. Opportunity is what lets hope become reality.” [8]

Romney also talked about the threats of terrorism echoed in other speeches.

Fred Thompson: The Speech of His Life?

Thompson, McCain’s friend, primary rival, a former actor and Tennessee senator, made several blunders early in the primary and dropped out. He made up for those blunders with a rousing speech – coming out swinging in full support of the McCain/Palin ticket. First he defended Gov. Sarah Palin against the smears Joe Biden has already launched at her:

“Speaking of the vice presidential nominee, what a breath of fresh air Governor Sarah Palin is. She is from a small town, with small town values, but that’s not good enough for those folks who are attacking her and her family. Some Washington pundits and media big shots are in a frenzy over the selection of a woman who has actually governed rather than just talked a good game on the Sunday talk shows and hit the Washington cocktail circuit. Well, give me a tough Alaskan Governor who has taken on the political establishment in the largest state in the Union - and won - over the beltway business-as-usual crowd any day of the week. Let’s be clear…the selection of Governor Palin has the other side and their friends in the media in a state of panic. She is a courageous, successful, reformer, who is not afraid to take on the establishment. Sound like anyone else we know?

She has run a municipality and she has run a state.” [9]

Thompson then went on to describe the story – known in sketchy outline to many but in detail to few – of John McCain’s early life.

“John McCain’s character has been tested like no other presidential candidate in the history of this nation. He comes from a military family whose service to our country goes back to the Revolutionary War. The tradition continues. As I speak, John and Cindy McCain have one son who’s just finished his first tour in Iraq. Another son is putting ‘Country First’ and is attending the Naval Academy. We have a number of McCains in the audience tonight. Also here tonight is John’s 96-year-old mother, Roberta.

All I’ve got to say is that if Roberta McCain had been the McCain captured by the North Vietnamese, they would have surrendered.

Now, John’s father was a bit of a rebel, too. In his first two semesters at the Naval Academy, he managed to earn 333 demerits.

Unfortunately, John later saw that as a record to be beaten. A rebellious mother and a rebellious father - I guess you can see where this is going. In high school and the Naval Academy, he earned a reputation as a troublemaker. But as John points out, he wasn’t just a troublemaker. He was the leader of the troublemakers. Although loaded with demerits like his father, John was principled even in rebellion.

He never violated the honor code.

However, in flight school in Pensacola, he did drive a Corvette and date a girl who worked in a bar as an exotic dancer under the name of Marie, the Flame of Florida. And the reason I’m telling you these things, is that, apparently, this mixture of rebellion and honor helped John McCain survive the next chapter of his life: John McCain was preparing to take off from the USS Forrestal for his sixth mission over Vietnam, when a missile from another plane accidentally fired and hit his plane.

The flight deck burst into a fireball of jet fuel. John’s flight suit caught fire. He was hit by shrapnel. It was a scene of horrible human devastation. Men sacrificed their lives to save others that day. One kid, who John couldn’t identify because he was burned beyond recognition, called out to John to ask if a certain pilot was OK. John replied that, yes, he was. The young sailor said, ‘Thank God’…and then he died.

These are the kind of men John McCain served with. These are the men and women John McCain knows and understands and loves. If you want to know who John McCain is, if you want to know what John McCain values, look to the men and women who wear America’s uniform today. The fire on the Forrestal burned for two days. Twenty planes were destroyed; 134 sailors died. John himself barely dodged death in the inferno and could’ve returned to the States with his ship. Instead, he volunteered for combat on another carrier that was undermanned from losing so many pilots.

Stepping up. Putting his ‘Country First.’ Three months later John McCain was a Prisoner of War. On October 26, 1967, on his 23rd mission over North Vietnam, a surface-to-air missile slammed into John’s A-4 Skyhawk jet, blowing it out of the sky. When John ejected, part of the plane hit him - breaking his right knee, his left arm, his right arm in three places.

An angry mob got to him. A rifle butt broke his shoulder. A bayonet pierced his ankle and his groin. They took him to the Hanoi Hilton, where he lapsed in and out of consciousness for days. He was offered medical care for his injuries if he would give up military information in return. John McCain said ‘No.’

After days of neglect, covered in grime, lying in his own waste in a filthy room, a doctor attempted to set John’s right arm without success…and without anesthesia. His other broken bones and injuries were not treated. John developed a high fever, dysentery. He weighed barely a hundred pounds.

Expecting him to die, his captors placed him in a cell with two other POWs who also expected him to die. But with their help, John McCain fought on. He persevered. So then they put him in solitary confinement…for over two years. Isolation…incredible heat beating on a tin roof. A light bulb in his cell burning 24 hours a day. Boarded-up cell windows blocking any breath of fresh air.

The oppressive heat causing boils the size of baseballs under his arms. The outside world limited to what he could see through a crack in a door.

We hear a lot of talk about hope.

John McCain knows about hope. That’s all he had to survive on. For propaganda purposes, his captors offered to let him go home. John McCain refused. He refused to leave ahead of men who’d been there longer. He refused to abandon his conscience and his honor, even for his freedom. He refused, even though his captors warned him, ‘It will be very bad for you.’ They were right. It was.

The guards cracked ribs, broke teeth off at the gums. They cinched a rope around his arms and painfully drew his shoulders back. Over four days, every two to three hours, the beatings resumed. During one especially fierce beating, he fell, again breaking his arm. John was beaten for communicating with other prisoners. He was beaten for NOT communicating with so-called ‘peace delegations.’ He was beaten for not giving information during interrogations. When his captors wanted the names of other pilots in his squadron, John gave them the names of the offensive line of the Green Bay Packers.

Whenever John was returned to his cell - walking if he could, dragged if he couldn’t - as he passed his fellow POWs, he would call out to them. He’d smile…and give them a thumbs-up. For five-and-a-half years this went on. John McCain’s bones may have been broken but his spirit never was.

Now, being a POW certainly doesn’t qualify anyone to be President. But it does reveal character.

This is the kind of character that civilizations from the beginning of history have sought in their leaders.

Strength. Courage. Humility. Wisdom. Duty. Honor.

It’s pretty clear there are two questions we will never have to ask ourselves, ‘Who is this man?’ and ‘Can we trust this man with the Presidency?’

He has been to Iraq eight times since 2003. He went seeking truth, not publicity.

When he travels abroad, he prefers quietly speaking to the troops amidst the heat and hardship of their daily lives.

And the same character that marked John McCain’s military career has also marked his political career. This man, John McCain is not intimidated by what the polls say or by what is politically safe or popular… John McCain cannot raise his arms above his shoulders. He cannot salute the flag of the country for which he sacrificed so much. Tonight, as we begin this convention week, yes, we stand with him.

And we salute him. We salute his character and his courage.

His spirit of independence, and his drive for reform. His vision to bring security and peace in our time, and continued prosperity for America and all her citizens. For our own good and our children’s, let us celebrate that vision, that belief, that faith so we can keep America the greatest country the world has ever seen.” [10]

Keynote Rudy: Former Mayor of a Big Town

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, yet another of John McCain’s rivals early in the primary season, delivered the keynote address, and it was, judging by the crowd’s reaction, a knockout.

Seriously, Giuliani needs to run for office again – this time perhaps with a different strategy, but no true American can truly say he didn’t do a wonderful job after the 9/11 attacks. As NYC mayor, he ran a city larger than many states. He clearly has the experience to run for any political office. And he graciously gave his wholehearted support to John McCain. The text of the whole speech is worth reprinting, but some highlights are here:

“To those Americans who still feel torn in this election, I’d like to suggest one way to think about this to help make a choice in 2008. Think about it this way. You’re hiring someone to do a job, an important job, a job that relates to the safety of yourself and your family. Imagine that you have two job applications in your hand with the name and the party affiliation blocked out. They’re both good and patriotic men, with very different life experiences that have led them to this moment of shared history. You’ve got to make this decision, and you’ve got to make it right, and you have to decide - who am I going to hire.

On the one hand, you’ve got a man who’s dedicated his life to the service of the United States. He’s been tested time and again by crisis. He has passed every test.

Even his adversaries acknowledge, Democrats, Republicans, everyone acknowledges that John McCain is a true American hero. He loves America, as we all do, but he has sacrificed for it as few do. As a young man, he joined the military. And being a ‘Top Gun’ kind of guy, he became a fighter pilot. He was on a mission over Hanoi when his plane was shot down. He was tortured in a POW camp. But he refused his captors’ offer of early release, because this is a man who believes in serving a cause greater than self-interest, and that cause is the United States of America. America comes first!

He has proved his commitment with his blood. He came home a national hero. He had earned a life of peace and quiet. But he was called to public service again, running for Congress and then the United States Senate, as a proud foot soldier in the Reagan revolution. His principle independence never wavered. He stood up to special interests. He fought for fiscal discipline and ethics reform and a strong national defense. That’s the one choice. That’s the one man.

On the other hand, you have a resume from a gifted man with an Ivy League education. He worked as a community organizer. (Laughter.) What? (Laughs.) He worked - I said -AUDIENCE: (Chanting.) Zero! Zero! Zero! Zero! Zero! I said — okay, okay. Maybe this is the first problem on the resume. (Laughter.) He worked as a community organizer. He immersed himself in Chicago machine politics. (Boos.) Then he ran - then he ran for the state legislature, and he got elected. And nearly 130 times, he couldn’t make a decision. He couldn’t figure out whether to vote yes or no. It was too tough. He voted - he voted ‘present.’ Sheesh! I didn’t know about this vote ‘present’ when I was mayor of New York City. Sarah Palin didn’t have this vote ‘present’ when she was mayor or governor. You don’t get ‘present’ - it doesn’t work in an executive job. For president of the United States, it’s not good enough to be present. You have to make a decision.

A few years later, he ran for the U.S. Senate. He spent most of his time as a celebrity senator - no leadership, no legislation to really speak of. His rise is remarkable in its own right. It’s the kind of thing that can happen only in America. (Laughter, applause.)

But he’s never run a city, he’s never run a state, he’s never run a business, he’s never run a military unit, he’s never had to lead people in crisis. He is the least experienced candidate for president of the United States in at least the last 100 years. Not a personal attack, a statement of fact. Barack Obama has never led anything, nothing! Nada!

Nada! Nothing!

Well, the choice in this election comes down to substance over style. John McCain has been tested; Barack Obama has not.

Tough times require strong leadership, and this is no time for on-the-job training.

We agree - we agree with Joe Biden -one time - one time, when he said that - until he flip-flopped and changed his position. And yes, being president means being able to answer that call at 3:00 in the morning.

And that’s the one time we agree with Hillary. I bet you never thought Hillary would get applause at this convention. She can be right. Well, no one can look at John McCain and say that he’s not ready to be commander in chief. He is. He’s ready. And we can trust him to deal with anything, anything that nature throws our way, anything the terrorists do to us. This man has been tested over and over again, and we will be safe in his hands and our children will be safe in his hands and our country will be safe in the hands of John McCain. No doubt!

I learned as a trial lawyer a long time ago, if you don’t have the facts, you got to change them. So our opponents want to reframe the debate. They would have you believe that this election is about change versus more of the same. But that’s really a false choice, because there’s good change and bad change. Because change is not a destination, just as hope is not a strategy.” [11]

The New VEEP: Gov. Sarah Palin:

For those who thought Gov. Sarah Palin was an untested, inexperienced, pretty addition to the ticket, they were in for a surprise with her spirited speech at the RNC convention. She was also not a last-minute pick, or someone who was not vetted by the campaign - check the blogs and you’ll even find a petition from more than six months ago to “draft Sarah Palin” for VP. In any case, she played her role well – she introduced herself and her family to the American public, showing that she is an average American citizen, and, moreover, a Washington outsider. She talked about the reforms she has made in Alaskan politics. She talked about the jet she put up for sale on e-bay - a luxury she didn’t need as governor and money that could go back to the taxpayers. But she also wasn’t afraid to go on the attack - gracefully - against both Barack Obama and Joe Biden. Rather than go into the details of her speech here, the next Vice President will get her own story.

But some of her speech deserves a quick review:

On public service: “The right reason is to challenge the status quo, to serve the common good, and to leave this nation better than we found it. No one expects us to agree on everything. But we are expected to govern with integrity, good will, clear convictions, and…a servant’s heart.” [12]

On Obama:

“But listening to him speak, it’s easy to forget that this is a man who has authored two memoirs but not a single major law or reform — not even in the state Senate. This is a man who can give an entire speech about the wars America is fighting and never use the word ‘victory’ except when he’s talking about his own campaign. But when the cloud of rhetoric has passed…when the roar of the crowd fades away…when the stadium lights go out, and those Styrofoam Greek columns are hauled back to some studio lot — what exactly is our opponent’s plan? What does he actually seek to accomplish, after he’s done turning back the waters and healing the planet? The answer is to make government bigger…take more of your money…give you more orders from Washington…and to reduce the strength of America in a dangerous world. [13]

The Original Maverick: John McCain

John McCain’s speech, like Sarah Palin’s, deserves its own story. Both will be out soon.

But even during John McCain’s acceptance speech, Barack Obama’s fans from Code Pink were rioting on the convention floor and Obama himself was sending out fundraising e-mails about his time as a “community organizer” – something even the people he supposedly organized in Chicago claim he failed at miserably. One of his flunkies wrote: “But worst of all - and this deserves to be noted - they insulted the very idea that ordinary people have a role to play in our political process.” [14]

Of course, ordinary people are most certainly a part of John McCain’s campaign (not paid bloggers, certainly, as Obama employs; volunteers, rather, like the people who run this site). Because the stakes are too high to do anything less.

The stakes are so high that, for free, thousands of grassroots organizations have joined John McCain, usually without his knowledge, such as this site – to defeat the threat Barack Obama poses.

Ironic that the DNC was supposed to be all about “Unity” – but John McCain and Sarah Palin are not about unifying a party – though they were both thoroughly (and sincerely) endorsed by McCain’s former rivals.

This is not a usual election. And this is not a usual candidate – or ticket. And this is not just a slogan – the actions clearly back up the words: Country Before Party, America First. And the only ticket for these troubled times is McCain/Palin.

Cristi Adkins Says: America is in Your Hands

Cristi Adkins:America is in Your Hands

This video inspires a plethora of refreshing emotions much needed after a hard fought and abusive democratic primary season.

Watching Gov. Sarah Palin's experience in that video, women across America find themselves are holding their heads a little higher. We even find ourselves wanting to know more about this extraordinary woman, Governor and role model.

Surprisingly, the more we learn about her, the more we find to like about her genuine nature and down home lady-next-door appeal.

Not only does she exemplify the true meaning of change, but women all over this country are feeling incredibly proud to be a part of this new era, proud to be moms, and proud to be true Americans.

Gov. Sarah Palin's story is not only exceptional, but one of true heroism. In this dawn of women's empowerment, this election cycle will surely be remembered as one that had to overcome an extreme Olympic hurdle: abundant misogyny .

When comparing the two parties candidates, regardless of one's affiliations, it is difficult not to notice the incredible contrast in the two tickets.

On the left, you have a virtual 'new to the scene' presidential nominee with an abundance of questionable affiliations and ties who claims he wants to implement change. Even if we were to believe this candidates ability to carry out 'change', whose change would it be? A friend of mine, Axis of Stevil, just this morning reminded me that "Hitlar wanted change too. And, Germany got just that...change"

On the right, you can clearly see two very honorable and patriotic candidates whose loyaltyt to country is apparent in their past performances. Which reminds me, didn't Senator Clinton actually ask her supporters to do the 'right' thing, IE: vote for the right sided ticket?

As for as I can tell, when you compare past relations, senate records, experience, American endearment, trust and character, there is but one choice that is best for America: Senator McCain and Gov. Sarah Palin.

You can take great comfort with these two that you are not voting for a republican ticket, but a Maverick Team.

However, I would be delusional if I didn't admit that in this day and age of propaganda by the media and hollywood, some will vote for a democrat because they have swallowed the bait, "We must have a democratic president to turn America around."

To add insult to injury, with the Chicago, thug like politics-worse-than-usual, it is possible that B. Hussein Obama will be our next president.

Yes, you read that correctly. Why do I suggest this? One word: ACORN.

I had no idea that acronym had such an ominous meaning other than a simple nut:Meet Obama's ACORN

QUOTE:
Inside Obama's Acorn
By their fruits ye shall know them.

By Stanley Kurtz

What if Barack Obama's most important radical connection has been hiding in plain sight all along? Obama has had an intimate and long-term association with the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (Acorn), the largest radical group in America. If I told you Obama had close ties with MoveOn.org or Code Pink, you'd know what I was talking about. Acorn is at least as radical as these better-known groups, arguably more so. Yet because Acorn works locally, in carefully selected urban areas, its national profile is lower. Acorn likes it that way. And so, I'd wager, does Barack Obama.

Why America is In Your Hands:
Ask yourself if it is enough to vote for McCain/Palin.
Ask yourself if it is enough to blog for these two Mavericks.
Ask yourself if it is enough to canvass neighborhoods or even distribute fliers.

When we are facing this typical Chicago style political machine (worse than politics as usual) who will stop at nothing to win...cheat, lie, bully and commit fraud... what can we, average every day citizens do to stop it?

America's future is in your hands...what will you do to stop these Chicago thugs from taking down our country?

If you are interested in taking action now and making a better America, go to www.nobamamission.com and volunteer.

Yours in Patriotic Spirit,

AS OBAMA'S SPEECH AT THE DEMOCRATIC CONVENTION FADES INTO MEMORY, SOME OF HIS REMARKS BEAR REMEMBERING.

(NEW YORK, NY)(DEMOCRATIC NATIONAL CONVENTION)(September 1, 2008) How many years ago was Senator Barack Obama's acceptance speech to the Democratic National Convention (DNC)? It seems ancient. Within hours, Obama's pallid remarks were eclipsed by Senator John McCain's bold tactics. Now Hurricane Gustav is temporarily eclipsing everything. I'm back in New York, and three things from Obama's DNC speech left a lasting impression on me.

THE DOG THAT BARKED, NUMBER ONE: I began writing about Obama's troubled psyche four years ago. I was fascinated with his relentless efforts to create a "fantasy family." He's still at it. In Denver Obama again pretended that his mother and father had some "plan" based on "America" that led to their becoming his parents. They had nothing of the sort.

His mother was a troubled teenager who probably disregarded warnings and became pregnant by an already-married African huckster. They had no "plans" at all. In fact, Barack Obama, Senior disentangled himself from his second "wife" at his first opportunity. Despite the fact that Barack Junior was the product of an embarrassingly casual liaison, he continues to pretend that his parents embarked on a grand "plan" when they created him. On the contrary, he should be a poster boy for unwanted pregnancies. His mother was several months pregnant when she allegedly "married" her first husband, Obama's father.

Despite the unpleasant reality, Obama continues to spin his family fantasies. Why do I focus on this point? It isn't because of the pain inflicted on "Barry" Obama by his parents. I have no desire to cause him any further injury. There has been hurt enough in his life. Rather, I continue to be fascinated by Obama's inability to deal with the truth about his conception. Obama's mother, who could have terminated the pregnancy, had the baby. Maybe she was a pro-lifer, unlike her son. She had the unwanted child. (Pro-lifers would say that every child is "wanted," but I am not going to argue that point now.)

Nevertheless, a man who continues to manifest an inability to deal with his family history is a man who continues to be a prisoner of his own childhood frustrations and fantasies. That's dangerous in any politician; it could be fatal in a president. The power of fabrication still controls his psyche. Over and over again Obama peddles his family fantasies to the American public. It is scary. I just don't feel comfortable with a man in the Oval Office who can't face reality and start by facing his own reality. Dangerous.

THE DOG THAT BARKED, NUMBER TWO: One of the slurs on Obama is that he is an "elitist." Well, in his own life, he can afford to be. He began life as a mediocre lawyer and through skillful management of his political career he has become a multimillionaire. I predict even more millions will find their way into his pocket once he is defeated for the White House. Corporations will pay him well, very well, for his services. Obama may not be a great leader, but he is the world's greatest entertainer.

But just as Obama slipped in San Francisco, by making snide remarks about small town residents who cling to guns, religion and prejudice, he slipped again in his DNC speech. He said a "big election" could not be about "small issues." This from a man whose party made school uniforms a reelection issue in 1996.

Obama is an elitist because his "small issues" indeed loom very large in the minds of many voters. Where he really stands on faith matters is of concern to many voters, including Roman Catholics.

Where he stands on the Second Amendment deserves greater specification than his contrapuntal examples of urban violence and hunting. What about the right to bear arms in the home to defend against urban violence? African-Americans today are under siege from other African-Americans. Helpless children are murdered by stray bullets almost every day in Chicago.

Whites are not part of the problem; white police are often the only solution to this intra-racial gun violence. Should Blacks be denied the right to defend their homes? With a gun? Or does the Second Amendment stop at the forest's edge? Obama won't say. That's a "big" issue, even if he doesn't think so. I could go on, but you get the point. What are "small" matters to Obama are "big" issues to most Americans. Elitist.

THE DOG THAT DIDN'T BARK, NUMBER ONE: In case Obama only reads or listens to his left-wing echo chamber at MSNBC (sorry, Keith), I begin this comment with a link to MSNBC:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26403580/
See also: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/europe/article4615158.ece;

There you have it: reality compels the conclusion we are indeed in a new Cold War. But foreign policy was a curiously absent topic in Obama's DNC speech. How will Obama deal with the new Cold War? Talk? Action? Indifference? We don't have a clue. Obama's only foreign policy focus was to call Senator John McCain a coward and declare that McCain was afraid to go to Osama Bin Laden's "cave." (How does Obama know where Bin Laden lives, and that it is a "cave?") The last I checked McCain was a senator, not president or SecDef. In other words, Obama made a joke of the foreign policy crisis confronting every American. The war on terror. Big issue, small response.

I am a Republican, because Republicans preach about less government and less spending. (They lie too.) I am also a Republican because over the past half century, Republican foreign policy has generally kept the peace, with one notable catastrophe (Iraq, which I opposed). For me, foreign policy is almost everything. The standard of living we enjoy is a direct result of freedom-and foreign trade. The shipping lanes must be open. There must be peace in the world. And we must bring enduring conflicts such as the Israeli/Palestinian imbroglio, to an end.

We are told that Obama "wrote his (DNC) speech." If so, the speech is an insight into the man, and it is not a particularly flattering insight. Obama doesn't care about foreign policy, and probably doesn't understand it. He has a hyper-intellectualized approach to the rest of the world. That's why he was so popular in the law school faculty lounge.

"Let's talk" doesn't work in the real world. You can't just sit down and speak with savages like Vladimir Putin, who is murdering innocent civilians in Georgia and his own people within Russia.

If Obama had asked me, I would have told him to attack McCain on his strong point. To do a "McCain on McCain." "Don't sweat the small stuff, Barry," I would have said. "Attack Johnny Mac on foreign policy. Show how you can do a better job." By his silence Obama forfeited foreign policy to McCain. Obama the bold? Or Obama the scold? You be the judge.

All in all, a very forgettable speech. On second thought, maybe left-wing wacko Michael Moore is right. There is a God. Maybe God took pity on Barack Obama, and sent a hurricane so people would quickly forget his pathetic acceptance speech.

Now you know why I am a Republican. And why I make fun of the cable TV bobbleheads, who usually do not have a clue what is going on in the real world. But then again, neither does Obama. Rachel Maddow and Barry Obama. Perfect together.

Make mine "McCain."

Cristi Adkins Asks, Will These Broken Wings Stay Home or Fly to the Other Side?

by Cristi Adkins
Radio Segments
Can 18 Million Broken Wings Recover - and Fly Away to the Other Side? As Denver approaches, the flapping that's in this air is the buzz everywhere: What will the Clinton supporters do next?

With unyielding conviction through talking, writing, praying and fighting, the voices of 18 million Clinton Supporters struggled to exert an unmistakable solution for America, one they know as Senator Hillary Clinton. Yet, in the aftermath of a democratic debacle they're left behind like fallen angels nursing broken wings. Now wondering where to go, left or right, those 18 million must consider whether they will just stay home -- or recover their hope and strength -- and fly to the other side.

Surrounded by dampened spirits and broken wings, the DNC gives the 18 million nothing, while requesting much. Should those 18 million give up their dream now or will they invest more hope in a "November surprise?"

As thoughtful women - and many men - some of these angels declare it a crime to just stay home rather than invoke our most powerful birthright: the right to vote in a valid democratic process. It's a sacred right too often taken for granted. Exercising it is a powerful force uplifting each individual's spirit and moral fiber.

Amidst all the broken wings, whispers of injustice, sexism, inequality and questions of 'His Will' hover in the Democratic Party's air. The DNC's insincere declarations of remorse over the chosen offer little solace. But what is to come if the voices of those 18 million simply surrender now?

In the DNC's flawed process, the 18 million invested everything they had only to be left feeling scorned and ignored for believing that "now was the time." When will the voices of these 18 million angels begin to matter to the DNC - if ever? Or, is their best option to fly to the side of an American hero, the maverick AKA, John McCain?

With their wounded spirits, the 18 million face an all too familiar struggle. How can they justify staying home when their fore-mothers demonstrated the power of women's will on August 26, 1920?

Almost to the day, in unison, though wounded, jaded, mocked and hated, those brave angels of democracy struggled to end the brutality of women's suffrage...they ended forever in the country the haunting silence of women's voices. Are women to be hushed once again on August 26, 2008?

Despite decades of activism, advocacy, and growing empowerment, are the angels to be left once again in silence -- searching, wondering, lost and alone?

It's as if we, the 18 million, are children without a father and are now hoping for our mother's miracle. If only we knew 'His Will.'

During this year's historical, glass-breaking primary process, the DNC's "good ole boys" showed us harsh political realities. We met misogyny face-to-face on many primary nights, and it came dressed as an inexperienced, unqualified, and arrogant nominee, one selected rather than elected.

Like so many others, I'm also left wondering what to do on November 4.

With broken wings, should we -- the 18 million -- just stay home, or should we carry our dreams to the appealing, but unfamiliar, other side? Let the Denver bells ring and we shall see just what these angels do.

In Honor of Christi, Jaiden and Trinity...
