Due to information overload and different opinions from food industries,
it is easy to imagine how we are confused about what is healthy to eat.
T.I.P. can help.
First, it’s best to feed your body life giving foods when possible. That
means reduce (to a minimum) the consumption of processed foods and
maximize the consumption of natural, whole foods, when possible.
Second, instead of low carbohydrate or low fat diets, nourish your body
with low-processed, life giving foods; do not go on diets.
I could just stop here and when you apply this new approach, you’ll have
better results. But, I know from my professional experience that more
tools equal better results, thus I'll give you a T.I.P..
When you’re unsure if a food is
healthy or not, ask these questions:
1. T - Treatment: How was it treated?
2. I - Ingredients: What are the ingredients?
3. P - Perfect Choice: Is this a perfect choice or the best choice available now?
Treatment
Ideal foods are as natural and whole as possible; foods like fruits and
vegetables. If the food in question is neither a fruit nor vegetable,
(canned fruits with added sugar do not count as a ‘natural’ source) then
ask yourself: How did this food get here?
Consider the environment where that particular food may have been
processed and the manufacturing process, which can give you a better
idea of how natural that food is.
Ingredients
Investigate the ingredients. Knowing the amount of calories,
carbohydrates and protein that is listed on the nutrition chart is a
good idea, but the most important information on nutrition facts is the
list of ingredients.
Perfect or best choice available
It isn’t realistic to think we’ll have “perfect” choices all the time.
So you need to be able to make the best choice available now; sometimes
you need to make the “less bad” choice available.
